Showboat solves big yak problems
I recently changed my Subaru Outback for a Toyota Highlander, and this gave me a height loading problem. I have a Hobie Pro Angler kayak, which at a fully loaded weight of 138lb provides a unique set of loading challenges!! The Showboat provides the answer. Combining with the 78" bars, Mako Aero saddles and suitable technique, my yak loads easily and stays rock solid secure.

Yakima needs to include two wing bolts
I bought the Showboat in the spring of 2011 from a kayak dealer who installed it for me, along with two Mako saddles on the front and Hully Rollers in the rear. The Showboat is a great idea but Yakima needs to include a couple of wing nuts so that the roller bar assembly stays clamped to the side bars. The first few times I used it, as I extended the roller bar to the fully extended position for loading, the roller bar assembly separated from the rest of the assembly. Extremely frustrating! As supplied by Yakima, the roller bar assembly is only attached to the rest of the assembly by a couple of bolts that routinely worked themselves loose. I solved this by adding a wing nut to the end of the bolts - such a simple, cheap, and necessary addition. I've written to Yakima and hope that they have now included wing nuts with their hardware.
